Brief

Madeline Island School of the Arts (MISA) is a retreat destination known for world-class workshops that attract artists of every level. While their programs soared, their digital experience lagged behind, workshop registration and student management relied heavily on manual processes and outdated systems. MISA partnered with Irish Titan to reimagine their online presence, modernize operations, and create a platform that reflects the same creativity and community they deliver in person.

WHY:

While their name suggests Madeline Island, they actually have different workshops across 5 locations in 3 states, complicating the processing. MISA needed to reduce inefficiencies that were slowing down both staff and students. Their goals included:

  • Moving away from manual data entry, high labor processes, and confusing overlaps.

  • Making registration and program management seamless for both staff and students.

  • Creating a modern, user-friendly digital experience to match their in person experience.

  • Building a foundation that could grow with their community.

HOW:

Irish Titan guided the project with a business-first approach, ensuring technology worked in service of MISA’s mission. The team:

  • Conducted discovery sessions to understand MISA’s unique workflows and challenges.

  • Designed streamlined processes to replace manual tasks with automation.

  • Modernized the digital experience while staying true to MISA’s established brand identity.

  • Offered a significant update to rich text, multi media, blogs, and the overall imagery for MISA.

  • Implemented integrations and tools that simplified operations and set the stage for future growth.

  • Ensured best practices around ecommerce, usability, and performance were baked into the build.

WHAT:

Irish Titan quickly tapped Shopify Plus for its scalability, powerful pre-built app ecosystem, and flexibility. We knew that Shopify would take MISA’s experience to the next level. We selected a tech stack that would be a strong balance of high speed, low cost, and most importantly, cover all the business needs of MISA.

Through utilizing a combination of Shopify’s native features of metafields, tags, and CRM configuration, we will be able to structure their various data objects in a way that respects the relationships between their workshops, instructors, locations, and more.

A central goal of this project was to ensure the “soul” of MISA’s business remains intact through technology adoption and process automation. Technology was selected to serve, not the other way around. Irish Titan’s commitment was to listen and account for the aspects of MISA’s business that benefit from the sense of community and human interaction.

MISA’s online presence now better reflects the creativity and community that define its in-person workshops, allowing the organization to spend less time on operations and more time inspiring artists.
